In-kind Gifts

Gifts in kind are welcomed by The Salvation Army. In-kind donations include non-cash property of many kinds, such as toys, food, furniture, equipment, motor vehicles, real estate, inventory, jewelry, works of art, and other tangible personal property. All goods and supplies donated must be sorted and appropriately packed, palletized and shrink-wrapped before shipping.

Corporate Gifts and In-Kind Contributions

The Salvation Army accepts corporate contributions of needed in-kind products, non-perishable food, drinks, and snacks and services.

Product offers will be screened for their usefulness to the disaster operation.

Bulk donations of non-perishable food accepted maybe shipped to a partner organization for building food boxes for The Salvation Army to distribute to disaster survivors.

Used Clothing and Furnishings

Shipping used clothing and used furnishings to the disaster area is not helpful, economical, or practical. Instead, consider donating to your local ARC Salvation Army Family or Thrift Store. These items are critical to supporting local Salvation Army programs.

In-Kind Donation Drive

If you wish to do an in-kind donation drive, first seek approval from your local Salvation Army. Once approval is granted by The Salvation Army, follow the guidelines below:

The Salvation Army only collects the following three types of products:

  • Non-perishable foods
  • Baby supplies
  • Personal hygiene products

Used Clothing, Furniture, and Cars You are responsible for: sorting, packing, labeling, and arranging transportation of all collected items.

Collected items must be boxed, sorted into categories (separate food from baby supplies and hygiene items), and placed on pallets. Pallets must be labeled with the contents in the boxes and include the name of organization/company which completed the collection.

NOTE: Collected supplies may be directed to a staging area outside impacted areas for further processing. Food donations may be shared with partner agencies, who will use the donated product to build food boxes and hygiene kits that The Salvation Army will distribute to disaster survivors.
